Guilherme Sommermeyer caracteriza seu trabalho poético pelo casamento das linguagens do desenho, pintura e literatura enquanto possibilidade para que cada prática sirva de passo inicial para a próxima. Embasada na construção de um imaginário através de alegorias, personagens e os espaços que eles habitam, essa produção também se interessa em propor narrativas expandidas do passado para o presente e vice-versa, enquanto um veículo para explorar questões de política, história e angústia temporal.
É mestre em Artes Plásticas pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto e Bacharel em Artes Visuais pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre – Brasil). Vive e trabalha no Porto, Portugal.
Guilherme Sommermeyer characterizes his poetic work by merging drawing, painting, and writing as a way for each practice to feed and serve as a starting point for the others. Grounded in the construction of an imaginary world through allegories, characters, and the spaces they inhabit, this body of work is also interested in proposing expanded narratives from the past to the present and vice versa, as a means to explore issues of politics, history, and temporal anguish.
He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre, Brazil). He lives and works in Porto, Portugal.
